Yesterday in Żarnowiec, we signed a letter of intent that opens the door to discussions and joint analyses on establishing a local energy cluster. This is a strong signal that another community is ready to actively shape its energy future. It is in places like this that real change begins — with local, conscious and responsible decisions.
The letter of intent is the first and very important declaration of cooperation. The parties express their willingness to assess the potential, analyse opportunities and lay the groundwork for a cluster model tailored to the needs of the region. It is a spark that may initiate the process of local energy transformation.
More and more municipalities recognize that distributed energy, local renewables and internal balancing are not just the future — they are a necessity. Thanks to such initiatives, local governments gain influence over energy costs, energy security and local economic development.
As part of the next steps, planned support for the local community and authorities includes:
• analysing the region’s energy potential,
• designing solutions based on renewable energy sources,
• building a modern and transparent cluster market,
• conducting educational and consultation activities,
• creating an energy transformation strategy for the municipality.
We are not determining the shape of the cluster yet — we will define it together. But the openness, readiness and willingness to act are already visible.
What has happened in Żarnowiec shows that local communities are increasingly confident in taking their energy future into their own hands. If other municipalities wish to begin a similar process, I invite them to get in touch. Together, we can build real energy independence where it is needed most.
